Our life span is extended. I, however, read an article that many people have to stay on bed in hospitals or nursing homes for the last 15 years before death. Our life is not about how long we can live, it’s about how well we can age. I don’t want to be the person that just goes through the day and survive it. I want to truly know that everyday is a gift and there are plans and purposes from God in every stage of my life even though my wrinkles get deeper and the skin gets saggy. So you have to take care your body and try your best to keep healthy.
Here are some tips that I want to share…
1. Eat right.
I think the first and the most important strategy for improving your health is to find out what kinds foods are good for you. Even if something is known to be a good food, it can be harmful for you. If you want to know how to find out which food is not for you, read my post Hear Your Body.
2. Prevent free radicals.
Avoid trans fats, charred meats, cigarettes. Eat more organic fruits and vegetables. Most of the vegetables and fruits you eat have a lot of antioxidants and you should eat the majority of your fruits and vegetables RAW and locally harvested. If you don’t have enough antioxidants to reduce free radicals, then oxidative stress tends to lead to accelerated tissue and organ damage.
3. Avoid inflammation.
Inflammation is a major cause in many diseases of aging, including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s. Try to follow a Mediterranean-style diet and include turmeric, dark chocolate in your diet. Other great way to lower inflammation is exercise.
4. Cook right.
When you cook in high heat and low moisture, Advanced Glycation End Products, or AGEs, are produced. It will accelerate your aging process by churning out free radicals and promoting inflammation. So when you cook, turn down the heat and rather than frying, baking, or browning, try boiling, steaming, or poaching. Limiting your intake of sugar-filled food in general will also help.
5. No processed food.
Processed foods are high in sugar and/or high fructose corn syrup and it contains artificial ingredients. Also it is high in refined carbohydrates, trans fats, and processed vegetable oils. Try to eat whole food and planning your meals in advance will help you not to eat processed food often.
6. NO GMO Products.
GMOs are product of genetic engineering. GMOs help ensure the global food supply. But there are more harmful things than beneficial, I think. Go here and study. Knowledge is the power.
7. Don’t be stuffed with food.
I know it’s hard. But do you know what happens when you eat too much?

8. Manage your stress.
Life is getting complicated. We all have hectic life. But spend time with God everday. Meet Him and He will guide you. He will give you a wisdom and peace. And have quality time with your family and friends….love more, laugh more, give thanks more, and hand out grace more…
